For several days now, hubsy and I have been seeing Dairy Queen commercials about Miracle Treat Day. If you know us at all…we heart ice cream. A lot. And, sick babies tug at our heart strings. Whoever thought of combing eating ice cream with helping sick kiddos…genius. If you didn’t know about Miracle Treat Day, I am sorry. I should have done a pre-post. For each blizzard sold today, DQ’s across the country donated $1 or more to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I believe Kade’s comment to me last night was, “Let’s go buy 150.” Yes, because he loves ice cream. But more so because that guy has one huge heart. He told all his friends to go to DQ today. Because to him, it mattered.
Anyways, after a long day on the road (for him) and a crazy day of WAHM* things (for me) we made the 5-minute drive to the local Dairy Queen. Two Strawberry Cheesequake Blizzards later, we were fat and happy.
On the Miracle Treat Day website, it says that every minute, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment. That’s more than one kid per second. Sometimes, life can be sucky. Technical term. And even though our $2 by itself probably wouldn’t do much…the $2 of lots and lots of people across the country certainly will.
Thanks for being awesome, DQ! Lots of prayers going up for all the kids everywhere (and their families) dealing with childhood illness. Remember, HE has a purpose and a plan.
